One of the strengths of the Notre Dame Academy student is her commitment to community and Christian service projects and her involvement in a variety of extracurricular activities.

Student Interest
 

Athletic Association – student athletes who work to promote school spirit and to spread information regarding all the athletic teams.

Fashion and Design

Fashion and Design is a club that offers students the opportunity to learn about the fashion industry, to practice fashion design, to learn sewing skills and to plan a fashion show for the spring semester.

Java Lounge – a literary coffeehouse for students and faculty to present original literary work.

Journalism – develops students’ skills in news writing, reporting, editing, computer graphics and the layout and copy work involved in printing a publication. Students prepare the school newspaper, Queen’s Press, for regular publication.

Royale – the NDA yearbook prepared by a dedicated student staff for all members of the student body. L’Espirit (NDA’s literary section) is written, edited and formatted by the students in this group.

Sound/Light Crew – student volunteers who operate the sound and light systems for assemblies, liturgies, concerts and drama productions.

Tech Staff – student volunteers who help with, and learn about the schools computer network.

WIMS (Women in the Math and Sciences) – students plan math/science related excursions and activities, and explore careers in science and math. This club has been known to study a variety of radio sources in space and the atmospheric conditions on Jupiter via a radio telescope.




Leadership & Service
  Campus Ministry – enriches school community life by planning and preparing school liturgies, retreats and by coordinating extensive Christian service.

Outreach groups:
H.O.P.E. – members of this service club are committed to Helping Other People Everywhere especially our mission school in Uganda. In 2006, HOPE raised over $(number to come) which was donated to various Charitable organizations.
Peer Ministry – members focus on helping other students through planning special events such as Yellow Ribbon Week, White Ribbon Week, Father/Daughter Dance, Mother/Daughter Retreat and facilitating student discussion groups.
Liturgical Planning – all of our Masses are organized by the students including everything from readings to music to liturgical dance.
Retreat Team – members of this club plan and conduct the yearly class retreats for 9th, 10th, and 11th grades.

Interact – service organization that “interacts” with the Rotary Club. Activities include sponsoring a Halloween Party for elementary children.

National Honor Society – honor society based on scholarship, leadership and character. Members provide volunteer tutoring and extensive campus service.

NDA International – an organization committed to promoting appreciation of all people and to breaking down stereotypes that divide people. An annual Heritage Week celebration highlights our rich diversity through food, music, dance and cultural expression..

Queen’s Council – a service honor for juniors and seniors. These students hostess most campus events.

Student Council – ASB officers and class officers make up the NDA student council. This spirited group is the backbone of the activities program and plans dances, theme weeks, holiday celebrations and much more.

Student-Faculty Council – representatives from the student body and from the faculty meet to promote an optimal school atmosphere.


Performing Arts
  Concert Choir – studies and performs a wide range of choral pieces. This choir participates in various events in the Los Angeles area.

Dance Club – studies and practices forms of dance including ballet and modern dance. The dance club also participates in competitions throughout Southern California and Nevada.

Drama Club – students are involved in the spring musical production, the fall Drama Festival, the Shakespeare Festival and various other drama activities. Of approximately eighty schools, our students have continued to win one of the Sweepstakes Awards at the D.T.A.S.C. Fall Festival.

Instrumentalists – studies and practices instruments including piano, flutes, guitar, drums and violin.

Speech – operates as both a club and team. Members compete at forensic tournaments winning trophies and certificates, and several qualify to compete in the CA State Speech Tournament held annually in May.

Visual Arts
  Art Club – promotes the understanding of, and appreciation for, art throughout the school.
