Performing Arts

The Performing Arts Department encourages and informs the personal and artistic development of each student by incorporating tools, techniques and perspectives that enrich a traditional curriculum and integrate new methods and technologies.

Building confidence through practice and performance are among the practical benefits of involvement in the performing arts. Through auditions, rehearsals and performances students gain self-confidence and develop a personal voice. Nurtured by an encouraging environment, students become courageous in their work, take chances with risky ideas, discuss their work in class, and perform for an audience. They discover that their peers and the audience are necessary participants in the give and take of improvisation, and that through performance they can inform an audience and open dialogues about an array of topics and emotions.

Visual Arts

The Visual Arts Department seeks to instill aesthetic awareness in each student that is involved in the program. The understanding, appreciation, and production of art are developed through practical application and active participation. The core of the program is dedicated to unlocking the imagination, encouraging creativity, and developing critical thinking in each student. As such, the Visual Arts Department hopes to develop the whole person, providing the student with opportunities to grow intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.
