School Community
Notre Dame Academy is a Catholic, college- preparatory    private high school for young women founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1949. Students are primarily commuters, coming from approximately 82 zip codes in the Los Angeles area.  The Notre Dame Academy student body is enhanced and enriched by its ethnic, cultural and socio-economic diversity:  6% African American, 9% Asian, 14% multiracial, 6% Filipino, 25% Hispanic, and 40% other/white.  Eighty nine percent of the students identify themselves as Catholic.

Explanation of Transcript
The school year is divided into two semesters of 18 weeks each.  Five credits are awarded for the completion of a semester’s work in each subject. Grade point averages are weighted on all subjects carrying Advanced Placement notations and those Honors* courses approved by the University of California .  Notre Dame Academy does not rank its students.

Notre Dame Academy is a highly competitive school.  The typical NDA student is service-oriented on and off campus, committed to responsible leadership, diligent in academic pursuits, involved in a variety of activities including service, athletics and fine arts. Because leadership is an important component of the Notre Dame Academy educational experience and because NDA wants as many students as are able to access meaningful leadership, students are not allowed to hold primary leadership positions in more than one on-campus club at a time.
